things we don’t like about Italy

1. There are no carpets here - just tiled floors: Handy if you don't like hoovering, and if you have a wild party, you can just hose down the house the next day. 1. There are no carpets here - just tiled floors, so if you drop anything glass or ceramic (or electronic, such as my external modem which I dropped the other day), it doesn’t stand a chance of survival.
2. The guy at the meat-counter in the supermarket is friendly and chats to you. 2. It takes an hour to get served at the meat counter ‘cos the guy is friendly and chats to everyone.
3. People drive shockingly fast here which is nice if you’re an impatient driver like me. 3. People drive shockingly fast here which is terrifying if you’re a nervous driver like me.
4. Parking is free throughout most of Rome. 4. It takes ages to find a parking space.
5. They have roundabouts here as well. 5. When you are on a roundabout, you have to give way to traffic joining the roundabout in front of you, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of having a roundabout.
